A plan cooked up in early summer by #cothamschool perhaps as soon as judge-six-signs gave back the field, perhaps before. PROWs don’t even feature- it’s almost as if they knew. CCTV, refusing before now looks to feature heavily. Someone will be getting a nice Christmas present.

Fencing children in is definitely not a basic principle of child protection and Cotham School seems to be denying what’s headteacher said in court! Read the facts on our blog: welovestokelodge.blog/2025/10/19/cat…
“This basic principle of child protection should not be controversial.” When did fencing children in become a basic principle of child protection? bristol247.com/news-and-featu…

We can confirm that an application has now been filed seeking permission to appeal the High Court’s decision to deregister Stoke Lodge Village Green. More details ⬇️
The school has spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on litigation over a fence it has admitted isn’t necessary. At the very least, this payment should help to mitigate the impact of their past decisions on its pupils.
Cotham School’s vanity project has already cost the Council far more than it wd save by proposal to close 3 museums. We’re all poorer - culturally & financially - because of the actions of just a couple of individuals. Museums petition: ⬇️ digital.bristol.gov.uk/moderngov
Locked gates never stopped our resident foxes from using their parkland - but all the same, they don’t want them back!
We are delighted to announce that the Open Spaces Society is supporting our defence of Stoke Lodge Village Green. The @openspacessoc recognises the importance of protecting the local community’s right to use & enjoy the land for recreation. We are thrilled to have their backing!
There must be an awful lot people think they need to know that they’re not being told. Citizens shouldn’t have to FOI this much. @WlStoke_Lodge localgovernmentlawyer.co.uk/information-la…
So many dodgy decisions seem to rely on people not having the time, energy or raising the money to challenge the powers that (used to) be. The people and communities behind these campaigns just want decisions to be taken properly and fairly. By a court if necessary. ⚖️
I won’t be buying Marvin Rees’ book “Let’s see what happens” bc I know the answer: a lot of litigation. Challenges to planning decisions on Yew Tree Farm, Bristol Zoo Gardens, Broadwalk & more (& the years of collusion against Stoke Lodge). What a mess. Thx Marvin. /1
How does #CothamSchool plan to cover long term illness/injury or mat leave for staff? Larger classes - how is this better for pupils? How can sound governance sanction this? @ESFAgov what are the 3 areas you’re responsible for monitoring?
True - Cotham School’s own predictions are for a deficit budget next year (and that’s not counting the spiralling litigation costs). Already planning increased class sizes to save ££ to give to lawyers. How can governors justify this waste of resources to parents/DfE? @ESFAgov
This is worrying, #cothamschool refusing to disclose minutes that would prove that the governors are fully informed about the legal quagmire they’re about to be dragged into. This time the excuse is that they don’t believe this person exists.#delaytactics whatdotheyknow.com/request/reques…
So: EITHER #cothamschool are still lying to keep information from the public when it should be disclosed OR (and this is worse) not a single person from the school leadership, staff or governors have an accurate idea of how much education funding has been spent on this hankering.
Dancing on pinheads tho, aren’t they? If they are the claimant, they are suing. Who are they suing? The defendant(s). It’s a nonsensical, unconstitutional waste of £. They want a binding resolution? There is one - it’s a village green & Cotham can still use it. They know this.
Both types of decision are fully-delegated to those committees & by law are outside political interference. What happens next time a planning committee makes a decision the exec doesn’t like? Councils DON’T sue themselves because it’s unlawful. Bristol will be a laughing stock.
WASTED: ❌£150k+ illegal fence ❌£650k+ unused pavilion ❌£200k min legal costs ⁉️And they want to spend more⁉️ IF accepted a court case would be min £150k. Where will they stop? £1.5m? £2m? And they say the current playing fields are expensive? What’s it worth and WHY?
