Congratulations to Mayor-Elect @oliviachow! We can't wait to work with you and the rest of city council to make Toronto a safer place for anyone who cycles. We're feeling optimistic for this new chapter for this great city 🎉🎉🎉 #bikeTO

A VERY good morning to everyone in Toronto who cycles: to work, to school, for fun. Last night we elected a true cyclist as our Mayor - not some swashbuckler, but a true cyclist. After years of near despair, I am officially allowing myself to expect great things. It is time!

If you bike 🚲 at all, I suggest you read and bookmark this handy guide from ⁦@TheBikingLawyer⁩ on how to report unsafe construction 🚧 zones and what to do should you get injured as a result of a hazardous site. #VisionZero thebikinglawyer.ca/post/construct…

Asked if there was a teachable moment regarding this violent scene? For our elected officials to find the #PoliticalWill to prioritize the safety of vulnerable road users! How are we justifying drivers crashing their vehicles into people? Cc: @VoiceoverCop @TOPublicHealth

Bad drivers: speeding, running red lights, obstructing bike lanes and intersections, responsible for the deaths of 23 pedestrians and 1 cyclist in Toronto along in 2022 TPS: 🤷‍♂️ Cyclists: trying to survive by taking the pedestrian walk advance TPS: here's a $325 ticket

Toronto police officers were recently observed ticketing cyclists for proceeding through an intersection with Toronto’s new head start pedestrian walk-signals. Cyclists remain burdened with most of the same laws as drivers, yet are far more vulnerable as road users. (1/4)

As a bicycle messenger in NYC, Robyn was killed on June 24th, 2019. When a cab driver, who was in the bike lane, started to merge into traffic, then a distracted driver of a box truck, knocked my daughter down and crushed them into the road. This 4th, all I have now are memories.

Olivia Chow will be the first Toronto mayor to ride a bike to City Hall since the 1980s! Could this be the start of a golden era for cycling and active transportation in Toronto? Have our streets become safer for riding a bike since John Sewell was mayor?

Under-the-radar bit about last night: Toronto just elected a mayor without a driver's license. In a city that's had its past decade shaped by driver culture, that elected Rob Ford based off his moaning about the "war on cars", this is a truly seismic shift.

One can dream 😂

OMG, the DVP is now one big gay bike lane?!

Speaking of Saunders/Furey, they combined for just 13.5% of the vote, both running campaigns that were very preoccupied with tearing up bike lanes and blaming cyclists for traffic. There’s not a large constituency for this anti-bike stuff anymore. Progress!

On Monday evening I was hit by a motorist in a pickup truck while riding my bicycle at Weston and Lawrence. I’m in a lot of pain with some broken bones. I will likely need surgery on my left ankle and months of rehab to walk again. That said, I feel very lucky to be alive. 🧵
