We do not appreciate SpaceX enough. If it were not for a single highly motivated American startup, China would be preparing to simply own outer space. Now they’re playing catch-up. I plan to make Valar Atomics the equivalent for energy.

Yeah, isn't it funny that capitalism works so amazingly well in so many areas, but in one of the few areas the government micromanages, the whole system goes haywire and costs explode. Must be coincidence, I guess.

This dispute isn't one-sided, and it certainly isn't as one-dimensional as it's being made out to be. Everyone is qualified to give input on cultural impacts that affect themselves, their community, and their friends and family. The fear mongering over being #2 is a new one.

I don't think I've ever seen a Twitter dispute that was so one-sided. All the people who understand tech, on both right and left, are on one side, and the other side is just anonymous accounts and political commentators.

Your reminder that nuclear "waste" isn't waste at all. It's perfectly good fuel that we're just leaving on the table.

What to do with the nuclear waste/spent nuclear fuel🤷 "Burn" it in a closed cycle fast neutron reactor. Why? 1) can be 60 to 70 times more fuel efficient. 2) much less waste generated. 3) the waste is only radioactive for ~250 years, not thousands of years.

We've been able to do this for over a century. It simply isn't economically competitive with tapping natural deposits. CH4 is not that hard to make, relatively.

The 'in-situ resource utilization' technology Starship needs to get off Mars involves autonomous factories that can create limitless methane from just carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight. Forget Mars; anyone who got it working on Earth would be a trillionaire.

Wow. Just what the world needed.

"Latine," a gender-neutral way to describe or refer to people with Latino origins, is surging in popularity over terms like "Latinx" on university campuses, in museums, and among researchers and media. trib.al/Gdrrv24
