I was saving a lot of vods of 3+ hour sessions so i could go back and make videos when i had time. The organization was god awful on twitch. Doesn't youtube have a limit on hour long videos being uploaded too?
We’re implementing a 100 hr storage limit for Highlights & Uploads starting 4/19. This won’t apply to Past Broadcasts (VODs) or clips. Less than 0.5% of streamers exceed 100hrs & this content accounts for <0.1% of hours watched. Users will be notified. link.twitch.tv/storage
Welp, this was a stupid decision, as someone who has wayyyyyy more then 100hours of hard work on my twitch, I hate this
If you are 100% going to do this - could you please give us a tool a flag videos we don't want to get deleted vs. having to delete EVERYTHING except for what we want to keep?
As someone who has 300 hours and years of Highlights saved as a part time streamer, I hate to see what this decision does to the full time streamers. and just seems like a bullshit way to pinch pennies instead of actually focusing on things to actually improve the platform.
Why refuse to allow archived streams when you could instead shift your focus to making archived content easier to access and find on your platform? This would be another way to maintain user retention on the same platform instead of moving to YouTube or something similar.
Hi Twitch! Partnered streamer here who does RP on the daily. Whose grease nugget idea was this? This is not a smart move in the slightest. IF you've got a brain or something then please revert this shit. This is not right and you know it.
I can understand needing to stop supporting it as a cost-cutting measure, server space is expensive. But 2 months is not enough time for those who exceed 100 hours, especially roleplay/dnd streamers. The streamer I moderate and edit for has over 4800 hours of vods to move now
Wow, delete memories of past wonderful streams, What in the hell are you guys trying to do? Screw everyone over continuously? Some of us may not be big or popular streamers but our past Highlights are meaningful for a reason. Fix this shit.
So many memories are going to be lost. This whole time I thought I could go back and make videos from all the things we'd done. Its crazy, at one point I thought youtube was going down this route and i had to back up my videos. Those were fucking edited and 20 minutes. UGH.
