A good presentation of a dataset which rather disproves the ‘it’s deregulations fault’ for bus use decline. It’s car use growth that’s caused it ever since petrol rationing ended in 1950. Slowing buses by taking conductors away didn’t help (largely done by the public sector)
Our TM's patience finally snapped after seeing one too many tweets blaming deregulation for bus patronage decline. You 'could' quote data since 1986. Or you can look at the post-WW2 era and ponder: what's been going on since then? (For citation, see in ALT)
In my years of working in this industry, I don’t think I have ever seen the road network this bad. Every road has delays, realise there’s a train strike etc too. But wow.
