Merry Christmas and thank you to all those who have followed my work over the last year. While celebrating at my home in Kent, I’ve been thinking about what this season really means, and how it might relate to the ideas I talk about it on David Starkey Talks. I was raised as a…

Without wishing to dox myself, I've been integrally involved in many of the largest infrastructure projects and housing programmes in the UK, so I know of what I speak. The UK has taken upon itself a growing fetish with accessibility and diversity within construction, which has…

EVERY SINGLE lift (barring one) in Parliament will have to be re-fitted to meet modern accessibility regulations. That is the 'key challenge' in the Parliament Restoration project, according to the architectural lead. No British govt project can stick to its original remit.

I like having a Prime Minister who throws Downing Street parties for public sector workers, unlike the one whose regime presided over illegal parties for coked-up Tory toddler advisors whilst health workers were dying to save others.

This will be a tough weekend for the Chancellor. She knew almost six weeks before the Budget from the OBR there was no ‘black hole’. Yet she and the Treasury still stoked up the idea that there was — and it would take big tax rises to fill it. By Oct 31 she knew from the OBR…

Every time I hear the debate between English identity and multiculturalism, I’m deeply confused. Multiculturalism essentially means that “Englishness” is an empty vessel in which cultures live together, that the vessel of being a country is neutral and empty of content. There’s…

I am actually a huge fan of the BBC or at least what it used to be. This recent scandal and the new information that is being revealed about BBC bias on other matters such as immigration, gender ideology etc explain very clearly why our country is where it is. The simple fact is…

Although I am apolitical, I enjoy political debate and joined Twitter for the modern equivalent. It now appears that I have gone back in time to the days of the hustings, when a politician got up on his soapbox and the crowd pelted him with rotten fruit.

This morning I received a letter notifying me of my Winter Fuel Allowance of £300. I don’t need this support but since so much of my energy bill is already being spent on projects which are, in my opinion, sheer folly, I think I will donate this sum to my local hospice.

An absolute must watch. Energy bosses have just told Parliament that EVEN IF gas prices halved by 2030, the soaring policy costs of renewables would mean bills go UP. Ed Miliband’s plan means more grid, more expensive renewable subsidies, more paying wind farms to turn off.

Thomas Midgley Jr. is widely regarded as the most unfortunate inventor in history; with leaded petrol and then CFCs. Could his political equivalent be Gordon Brown? He sold the gold, raided pensions, increased the use of PFI, and raised stamp duty. Quite a record.
