Beautiful specimen! I've rarely found this one, and what I've found have been on the outskirts of wooded areas. Beginners sometimes confuse Chlorophyllum molybdites, usually a lawn mushroom, for these, with rather unpleasant results if eaten.

Does anybody find maitake in the Asheville, NC area?

Don't think I've ever seen one of these.

This can be useful, but if too many people in your area know about it, a site can become depleted quickly.

We recently tuned the website and database to be much faster when flying around an area with many thousands of locations, like Denver. Anyone notice? fallingfruit.org/?z=16&y=39.715…

All of my followers make me happy. Some by following, some by leaving (particularly if it's bots and fake profiles doing the leaving).

Too many amateurs think they're instant experts by using a plant/mushroom app. This won't end well for some. Don't be one of them!

These are good, but can be infected by a rust.
