We are appalled by the violence and targeting of civilians in the fall of El Fasher to RSF. At the UN Human Rights Council, I urged for a ceasefire, unrestricted aid, and protection for civilians now. We must show the Sudanese people that they are not forgotten.

A special session of the @UN_HRC today highlighted devastating atrocities in Darfur. Thousands are unaccounted for. Others have been murdered, raped or starved. Consensus - unanimous agreement - on a new investigation signals that we won’t forget the people of Darfur.
The atrocities reported after the fall of El Fasher are horrific: summary executions, sexual violence, and over 89,000 civilians displaced. Today at the UN Human Rights Council the UK called for a ceasefire, unrestricted aid and an end to impunity. The world cannot look away.

Concerned about reports of significant RSF advances in El Fasher, Sudan. Vital that RSF and their political alliance, Ta’sis, do everything to honour their commitments to protect civilians, ensure safe passage and adhere to international humanitarian law. The world is watching.
