Our health service is too focused around late intervention, not prevention and early intervention. We're too focussed on mopping the floor, not turning off the taps. It's time for a new approach. It's time to #TurnOffTheTaps and invest in #HealthVisiting.

What's your biggest barrier to engaging parents in their child's learning?

At recent training I delivered on parent partnerships, teachers and EY practitioners sited fear as the main reason for not engaging parents in their child's learning. How about you?

How do partner with parents? I sometimes hear 'our parents don't care' big statement and scary! What's that about?

An x ray of a developed hand (around the age of 7) compared to an EYFS age child’s hand is pretty informative. Also occupational therapists issue fantastic advice on how to develop handwriting in an age appropriate way matched to children’s physical development.

After a bit of a break, I'm back and want to connect and engage with early years people. I'd love a follow if that's you.

The childcare sector needs support if parents are expected to work. #childpoverty

If you want parents to work in proper paid jobs to avoid #childpoverty then support childcare #PoliticsLive #earlyyears

One of my staple sources of information in supporting EY pracs and teachers. Always recommend!

Eliteist curriculum not serving working class.

I wonder what parents think after home educating this summer? I think we need to repurpose the content and replace it with values and useful learning. It should be preparation for life, not exams: ‘Elitist curriculum not serving white working classes' bbc.com/news/education…

So powerful. Thank you for sharing @MineEYMind .

Schools are telling me how difficult it I'd at the moment to build good relationships with parents. How are you helping parents continue children's learning at home? #earlyyears #partnershipswithparents #homelearningenvironment

What a great idea for parents and children to work and explore together. @AnneFYT #parentsmakethedifference

We're all keen to help parents with learning at home but the new regs are making it harder to have those conversations. Direct your EY parents to FYT facebook for info and activities on a weekly theme. This week was physical dev. facebook.com/67680288579409…
