Perfoliate Bellwort (Uvularia perfoliata) is a sublty beautiful little wildflower that can occasionally be found in greenspaces that hold remnants of the old growth forest. It's delicate yellow flower is easily overlooked as it hangs downward, like a bell.

Seeing a deer running in the wild or stopping for its favorite snack can be a majestic experience. These activities also create what are known as "deer trails". Narrow paths, cleared of plants allowing the deer to move quickly through the forest. #ForestFeaturesFriday

Have you ever tried the fruit from a Pawpaw tree? This indigenous understory tree produces a fruit tasting similar to a combination of banana, green apple, and mango! Just remember, don't eat anything you can't safely identify! #ForestFeaturesFriday
What unique trait gave this plant the common name "Perfoliate bellwort"? The flower stems of Uvularia perfoliata appear to perforate the center of its leaves. This one was found in our board member Debra Pearson's backyard! #ForestFeaturesFriday
