Immensely excited! When these names came onto my radar as a budding entomology nerd I never dreamed I'd write a book with them! Many will know @StevenFalk1 as a powerhouse at making insect identification accessible, so it's amazing and very fitting to have him on board.
We're excited that Steven Falk @StevenFalk1 has now joined co-authors Gail Ashton @gailashton, Rory Dimond @Ecoentogeek & @NatureBureau's Peter Creed to produce our NEW Photographic Guide to FLIES OF BRITAIN & IRELAND to be published later in 2025 @DipteristsForum @flygirlNHM

Listening to #YouandYours on @BBCRadio4 about the apparent rise in wasps this year. Great to hear @WaspWoman riding in on her white horse to defend them! I have a nest in my loft this year and enjoy watching the traffic of workers from my office window as I write.
On the home run now for our #FliesofBritainandIreland book bit.ly/4dqQI8Z โ @StevenFalk1 has now completed the text for the Anthomyiidae & we've started laying out the intro pages @flygirlNHM @gailashton @Ecoentogeek @TVERC1 @BBOWT @DipteristsForum
๐ธ Massive news ๐ 33 precious froglets have been born at the Zoo, following an urgent mission to rescue their species from the brink of extinction. An important milestone for the international project to save Darwinโs frogs from being wiped out ๐ londonzoo.org/zoo-stories/neโฆ
There are a lot of these and many obscure yet fascinating species. It was tough to whittle them down but I hope we'll give them decent representation. Grateful to the kind photographers who have aided the mission.๐บ๐ชฐ๐ก๐ชฐ

Today's #FrohawkFriday post is the third plate of FW Frohawk's magnificent Natural History of British Butterflies, featuring Large White. We suspect this species may have been the butterfly gateway for many kids in the 20th century, rearing caterpillars found on garden cabbages.

Bug fashion ๐ Iโm initially inspired by the caterpillar that wear its own molted head, but thereโre so many other interesting bug costumes!

It's great that lots of people want to encourage solitary bees in their gardens with #beehotels but there are a lot of rubbish ones for sale and not much information from sellers. This guide and product reviews by @MeganShersby is really helpful if you're a novice bee hotelier.
