Happy World Mental Health day. To all those who, like me, struggle with their mental health - this is likely to make you better at your job rather than worse. Speak up, speak out and be proud of who you are. Read my blog on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/feed/update/ur…

Fabulous day for sport in my household - @NUFC glorious victory against Spurs puts @AVFCOfficial into Champions League placed - and we won the princely sum of £7.60 on the #GrandNational2024

Wondering why the thought of Russian athletes competing in the Olympics is so incendiary when it is no longer seen as a scandal for them to compete in tennis grand slams? Surely the same principle should apply across all sports? Discuss… thetimes.co.uk/article/644a04…

Wondering when @HTempestPhoto are going to respond to this. I have tweeted three times and I would have thought neurodiversity awareness month might be a good time for a diversity-positive response. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

It’s neurodiversity awareness month and I’m wondering how helpful the D is in ASD or ADHD. Neurodiverse people are not disordered. Greta Thunberg refers to Asperger’s as her superpower yet if we keep thinking of neurodiverse people as disordered they will always be stigmatised

Sad to hear of the death of Daniel Kahneman. Thinking Fast and Slow is such a seminal work and has influenced so much of today’s best practice in cognitive science and pedagogy bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-…

Sub-postmaster Martin Griffith took his own life in 2012. In order to receive a compensatory payment his widow was pressured into signing a non-disclosure agreement so this didn’t come out until 2022. Surely it is time to end abuse of NDAs? thetimes.co.uk/article/d4e930…

Some random thoughts on curriculum articulation 🧵 As you may (or may not) know, I’m a bit of a curriculum nerd. I feel wholly privileged to spend so much time having really insightful conversations with school leaders and teachers about all things curriculum. A common point

Depressing attack on a school where leaders are trying to turn it around and make it a safe, calm place for all. Where were the protests and press coverage for the last 6 years when the school was judged Requires Improvement twice in a row? devonlive.com/news/devon-new…

Good to hear that 14 year olds will never be able to legally buy cigarettes. We now need to tackle the epidemic of vaping

Just one example of the human cost of HS2. Our wedding venue north of Birmingham was demolished and we had planned to revisit on special anniversaries. That demolition was for nothing bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

Classroom teaching is one of the hardest tasks ever devised. Yet many people think it's easy. Let's talk about 'the paradox of teacher expertise'... ↓

It’s the last day of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, & I wanted to share this photo of Ruby, 2 weeks before her diagnosis. She’d been poorly for a few weeks; doctors were sure her symptoms were due to allergies. You can see a raised lymph node in her neck. #ccam 1/n

I don’t reckon there is one job role in a school that wouldn’t lead to the place falling apart if they were removed from the structure. Every person and role makes such a difference to a school running effectively.
