Today was Bruce's 6th birthday. I thought of him, especially while drinking tea. Who knew that saying goodbye to a dog friend could be so hard.
On one of Bruce's last nights, I let him outside around 3 am and he was outside a really long time. It was cold and I was worried, so I put on my coat and boots and looked outside for him. He had traveled across the creek to a small hill and was just sitting there, staring.
We took Bruce back to his vet today and x-rays discovered masses throughout most of his organs. We have him home with pain meds and steroids to keep him comfortable until we say our goodbyes. I am devastated. He is the best dog and the best friend. Please hug your pups extra.
