My job is to support teachers with #digitech. Stoked to be working with a teacher from a remote school in WA. Professional email🙅🏼‍♀️ Scope and sequence for 2021 ✅ Next step, unpack each term. Algorithms, robotics, cyber safety, designing, data it’s all there for her P-4 classes 👊

A6: @SportandiAndres led one about esports and the benefits of using them in our classes. It opened my eyes to how valuable those programs can be if we direct Ss in a certain way and have focus before implementing them #PrimarySTEMchat

Q5: that I talk too much! So I stopped talking that’ll and let the students do! Provide Ss with time to find the answer themselves. (One year I gave my students a week to teach each other. Pass on a skill, they loved it!) #PrimarySTEMchat

A3: a year 5 S hated maths. She cried in a test because she couldn’t do it. Fast forward 4 years and I find out she is loving secondary school Maths and Science. Double proud because of her success and she was a girl loving STEM. #PrimarySTEMchat

A4: my students were building simple machines and trying to get things to work was a nightmare - for me and them. We worked together and the day I had a S have a cardboard wheel barrow that WORKED was the best day ever. Failure was part of the learning #PrimarySTEMchat

A2 my passion is a passion and love of learning. My Ss become excited and motivated to learn. My positive reinforcement was to engage them in the learning phases. To see how they are learning and growing. I use that same passion when I help teachers with tech #PrimarySTEMchat

A1. Questioning and building. I use to love playing LEGO with my brother and then heading down to my dad’s shed to build things. It’s always been about learning through asking and doing #PrimarySTEMchat

Hi everyone. I’m Catherine from Melbourne. I’ve been in and out of #PrimarySTEMChat for years! Most recently this year I’ve gotten back a lot more! My passion lies on all things T in stem. Happy 150th chat!

Bonus answer: it assists students with their mathematical reasoning. They start to understand how numbers can manipulated rather than focusing on a process #MathsTalk

A3: I took the red shape and noticed it was same size as blue and green together and then 2 red shapes were the same size as the yellow. I found 3/8 #MathsTalk

A2. I loved this question so much! I saw 5 and 5 and 1 in the middle. I’m a sucker for finding number facts that equal 10! #MathsTalk

Hi everyone I’m Catherine. This week was a busy one! More arms were certainly needed 🤣 #MathsTalk

A2: Yes, we want our students to think critically. This includes all parts of STEM. They need to think critically about how something is produced, the impact that it will have (thinking about ethically produced items) on humans and the environmental impact #PrimarySTEMchat

Hi everyone I’m Catherine, I live in Melbourne and support teachers with Digitech. This week I’ve connected with 2 rural schools and so pumped to help them create a STEM/digitech scope and sequence. It’s made my week! #PrimarySTEMchat

Hi everyone my name is Catherine. Something that has got me through 2020 is watching my plants grow! My lavender is in full bloom and my fiddle leaf is now taller than me! #MathsTalk

A6 STEM coaches are needed to help develop knowledge and pedagogy in an area that many teachers feel overwhelmed in. I survey Ts at a school a handful marked themselves at a 0 for confidence to teach digitech. #primarySTEMchat

Q5 Ensuring that focus is kept to ensure development. Giving room to grow the skills and being able to identify how that looks and the pace too. And that growth makes a lasting impact - not just done to please or tick a box #primarySTEMchat
