On October 23, 1954 was tested the RDS-3I Soviet atomic bomb with an external source of neutron initiation. The yield was increased from 42 kilotons to 62 kilotons. The bomb was dropped from Tu-16 aircraft and detonated at an altitude of 410 m at the Semipalatinsk test site.
