There are no big mountains in the Kočevje area, only hills and forests as far as the eye can see. Every trail feels remote, the forests greener (or whiter in winter) than anywhere you’d walked before and you’re more likely to be greeted by a wild animal than a human being…

Here are a few photos from our hike to Mt. Kompotela back in February, accessible from the Krvavec ski resort. It was an awesome hike, and we all loved the pristine snow ❄️😍
The first snow of the season is here! High mountains received quite a bit of fresh snow as well, so be careful when planning a tour. Until it settles,hikes at low to mid elevations can be just as beautiful, like the hike to the church of Sv. Peter above Begunje. 📸 @visitradolca
Planina Krstenica (1,670 m) above Lake Bohinj is a classic Alpine pasture where some of Bohinj’s 1,000 cows graze each summer. Now they’ve headed to the valley for winter, leaving the beautiful meadows to a few wandering hikers. 📸 @simonzupan
