Doku’s been one of the best players in the world this season. Unreal form

Don’t think Nico Gonzalez has had anywhere near enough recognition for his performances this season. Been very solid, excellent in terms of his OOP play in particular. Don’t think I’ve seen a game where I’d say he’s been objectively bad. Will improve with development + time.

Interesting to see the differences in the ‘big 3’. Arsenal losing the ball primarily in the final third/opposition box. Whereas City and Liverpool both lose the ball most often in the middle third. All 3 don’t tend to lose the ball in their own third.

Turnover includes a unsuccessful first touch from a player when receiving a pass or being dispossessed by an opponent player via a tackle or ball recovery.

Just a way football is evolving. Teams used to sit back and deep blocks vs likes of City/Barca and now press more and go for man for man more and counterpress themselves and this creates these issues.

One of the reasons why it feels as though elite football is going through a bit of a transition atm is because the teams who use a territorial dominance approach to high possession (hold the ball high up the pitch) can no longer defend the situations this invites...

Dream next summer for City: Guehi, Livramento, Wharton, Olise.

I feel like the next transfer saga is going to be Olise. Think he goes to either City/Liverpool next summer.

Liverpool's start of the season reminds me of Manchester City last season. All sunshine and rainbows at the start, but it masked the bigger problems. Before a monumental collapse.

Man City are 4 points up from last season from the same exact match-ups played. Despite not the best start to the campaign.

Thought Chelsea’s defenders done well despite the injuries. Acheampong and Badiashile impressive. James and Gusto good at going into midfield. Cucurella quietly impressive as always.

Think Liverpool losing two key cogs in their team in Luis Diaz and Trent has gone under the radar. New signings haven’t replace that. Early on yes, but sometimes it’s not about buying the best players, but the right profiles. Not square pegs in round holes.

This was the sort of point Pep started getting scrutiny last season….. #1in14

City and Arsenal look far better than this Liverpool side. Same for Chelsea at the moment.

City windows under Pep. Can't give a full opinion on January 24/25 but have preliminarily rated them. Genuinely very successful. First two windows in particular and the Haaland summer.

Would’ve been a better signing than Isak.

Semenyo is performing very similarly to Southampton Mané right now…

Think that’s the 100% rate for defcons gone now.

Adam Wharton + Antoine Semenyo. City should target these two.

Yet… the media loves to convey that City only win things due to having a high budget.

The champions Liverpool spent over 400M in the summer, and right now don’t look as effective. Chelsea have spent 1.5B over the last three seasons & don’t look any closer to the title. It shows there’s more to success than just spending money! telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/…
