Why we need to use the F word in evaluation - Arts Professional
Talking of failure can feel uncomfortable and we often avoid it when carrying out evaluation. But, as Susanne Burns argues, being open about failure can be key to learning.
Our first Creative Cuppa will focus on the concept of 'failure’ with @FailSpaceProj Champion Tom Bevan. Tom will talk about how we can learn from failure and why it shouldn't be an 'F word' to fear! Tom's talk will be followed by informal networking, coffee (or tea) and cake ☕️
Sadly we couldn’t make it to the Failspace conference, but we will be reading the book from the project. Great to see it being published open access & free to download. A very positive move.
And that’s a wrap on a brilliant day of panels and discussions at the FailSpace conference - and an added bonus is that @LeilaJancovich & @mrdjstevenson book on this @ahrcpress funded research is now published and open access!! Read it here! link.springer.com/book/10.1007/9…
The book “examines how and why the UK’s approach towards increasing cultural participation has largely failed to address social inequality in the subsidised cultural sector despite long-standing international discourse on this issue”

Genuinely a bit mind blown after the brilliant @FailSpaceProj conference! Such a refreshing approach for all you creative, community, project-delivery folk. But also just anyone who's ever beat themselves up when things haven't gone to plan. Lots of food for thought.
And thanks for your contributions :)

It’s been a reflective week, as we write our CIC report (yes it’s later than we would like 👀🫣) - we’ve been mindful to think about the positive stuff and even taking positives from negatives, if we put our @FailSpaceProj glasses on.(check their website out if you haven’t!).
