All year long Family First has been working hard to build this allotment ready for groups, to run support sessions. Sadly it was vandalised, but we are blown away by the kind donations of so many. We will rebuild and be up and running very soon. justgiving.com/crowdfunding/r…
I would like to thank the amazing people that have rallied together and supported me through #justgiving After my devastating day & feeling sad that an act of vandilism was going to impact what @FamilyFirstRMD have been working hard at. I'm blown away by the amount raised....
Don't miss this, tomorrow night.
Hi! Tomorrow, IAPMD will be hosting #PMDDhour at 3pm EST/8pm GMT - We know it is Thanksgiving for some of you (timing!) but please do pop along if you can. We will be sharing what IAPMD offers #PMDDpeeps and where you can find help and resources if you have #PMDD <3
Exactly what I was just going to tweet, well said @DavidGilbert43
Don't 'put' patients at the centre, don't 'put' anywhere! Instead, work WITH patients. #LXPLEADERS19
I keep coming back to the clip of Meghan. The look in her eyes I just want to give her a big hug and tell her it will be ok, and thank her for being so honest. Motherhood is so hard Be kind, you never know the battles people are facing behind the scenes. #WeLoveYouMeghan
Negatively towards any new parent is not Okay! We are in a day and age when we should be asking people if they are okay? #WeLoveYouMeghan
💛 How wonderful to show such honesty. Regardless of status or wealth we're all human. #WeLoveMeghan "Meghan Markle says 'not many people have asked if I'm OK'"
Really touching to see the #WeLoveMeghan hashtag getting so much traction. There's a human being with feelings on the receiving end of this vile and shameful coverage, commentary and trolling.
I don't watch the news or read the paper for various reasons! It doesn't mean I don't keep myself informed. I do my own research and prefer more positive/ informative outlets. There is something that continuously catches my eye or pops up in my news feed and It is not ok......
Mental Health can take us to dark times, we can end up falling down the rabbit hole. Others coming up out the hole, will greet you with warmth & kindness. They can show you the way back home. Lived experience & peer support is valuable in Mental Health and our care.
The power of Social Media is a positive one sometimes. Making connections and helping others to understand.
Definitely, so many people, spreading awareness, helping others, making connections. I would be lost in my PMDD without the help of so many. A diagnosis is nothing without understanding, understanding has come from other Peeps. Xx
What would have helped me (Lou) is if someone has said to me- have you tracked your moods against your menstrual cycle? Some unhelpful things people have said- "yeah, a lot of people get PMS", "you need to think positively", heard 2nd hand "Lou is not good at dealing with life"
"I've been a doctor for over 25 years, I think I would now about Menstrual Health affecting Mental Health" Clearly not!! Why not: •Listen to patient •If you don't know, look it up •Make another appt to discuss in detail. Don't make patient feel invalidated PMDD is real..
I am going to create an awareness video. Please share with me the most unhelpful things people have said to you & what would have helped you more 💚 #theysaidwhat #pmddawareness #pmddpeeps #makemenopausematter #hormonehealth @viciouscyclepmd @FamilyFirstRMD @IAPMDglobal
Last week I had a HRT change, this week has been hell, I reached out for support & was told "all women have hormones, it's a part of life, when we feel we lack motivation we just have to get on with it" - for a few hours this floored me, then I decided to do something about it...
#pmddhour #PMDDpeeps Never under estimate the power of a friendship. Even in my darkest days of PMDD, my friends have been there for me. The Peer groups I've ran, some of the people that attended, didn't have PMDD, they wanted to know & understand so they can help their friends
This is very important... PMDD is real, it does affect us and impact those around us. Some days we don't have control, other days we feel so low. I know the changeable symptoms is hard to understand...but trust us, it's not an excuse. #pmddhour
Trust us. We're not "just making excuses." We know our bodies. Try to not take our behavior personally. Keep trying. Be open & honest about your needs & expectations. When all else fails, feed us & wrap us in a blanket. #PMDDhour
#pmddhour Don't Judge us... Those amazing people in my life now, are the people that never judged me for my behaviour when my mental health was affected by PMDD. They never judged me or felt "that was the true me" They knew it was something more, then they knew it was called PMDD
Thank you @nowbreathagain Communicate to Loved ones, family, friends, co-workers. Whoever you feel comfortable with. Talk about what you feel will help, how can they support you, what has worked and doesn't.
#pmddhour Give space. Last weekend I escaped as I needed it, the time before I just sat in my room wrapped in the duvet. During that time I wasn't put upon, demanded off or felt guilty of I let anyone down. I was given the time I needed to overcome the rollercoaster of PMDD
