I am in tears. Hilarious. Academic folks might be upset reading this but there is so, so, so much truth in every line. Read this satirical letter from a [fake] university addressing Black Lives Matter & institutional action steps. It is soooo good. mcsweeneys.net/articles/we-co…

While I appreciate what the author is trying to do here, geneticists have to contend with its eugenic present & not just it's eugenic past. Eugenics never really went away.

You're not doing this right if you've left all the organizing and the discussion around systemic racism to the students in your program. #ShutDownAcademia #ShutDownSTEM

Defund the police like you’ve defunded education.

Caroline Kisielinski reposted

The money spent on the police could fund education, public health initiatives, provide healthcare for all, be used to establish a real mental healthcare system, there are sooooo many beautiful possibilities we could build towards.

Natural history museums and palaeontology are complicit in racism and colonialism. Our discipline was founded by racists, slave owners, looters. We have to acknowledge this in our displays and lectures. Not doing so is covert racism, and keeping silent on this is not enough.
