Eyes close, slowly. A small smile brushes her lips. The sand man lurks, awaiting his cue. Before she accepts his embrace, once more gesture.
Not tonight. For one, solitary being, these stars, their deaths, have piqued an interest.
For the light we see is death. Transmitted across countless miles, through untold light years. And for the most part, we pay no heed.
Stars. So beautiful. Often bright. Always twinkling. It's odd to think that what the eyes observe is just a remnant of a life long expired.
Eyes absently track a shooting star. Such a deep thought for such a late hour. Unable to shake it, she allows it to envelope her mind.
Such a curious thought. The moon is dull tonight, overshadowed by a billion shining stars. The wanton thought dances through her mind.
Serenity. Melancholy. Vermillion eyes cast skyward, drinking in the star fields. A Mardi Gras evening. A small chuckle emanates.
Ready to take her place once more in this world. Her throne is cold. No longer.
Torpor envelops her, cocooning her. Aurora will bring forth the Phoenix, rising from the ashes.
A grin, malign, spreads her lips and darkens her face. The Sandman takes her in his arms.
Almost gliding, she locates the bedroom, coequal. Sliding into bed, oblivious to the film of grime, she lays.
