Empathy is the single greatest tool in the arsenal of a successful collector. Sympathy, however may have a damaging effect on all the good will created to reconcile a delinquency.


Sympathy can create the impression that we are looking down on the customers, which in turn can lead to a negative response and eventually, to lack of any future contact.


Understanding the frustrations that can arise with being a debtor, paired with an empathetic relationship management can create settlements that will leave all parties in a better situation.
