Nearly a quarter of a million parents receiving #UniversalCredit worry they won't be able to properly feed their children if the £20 increase is cut in April. The UK Govt must #KeepTheLifeline and make sure this doesn't happen.
Good afternoon from Float! Are you supporting somebody in financial crisis? Have they been turned down for a Crisis Grant? You can apply for a £30.00 grant for them here: float.scot/grants
Thanks @HealthAllRound for providing bus tickets to people who need them. We couldn't operate without our partners input. Great to see an improvement in health as a result of attending medical appointments! #Edinburgh
"We treat people with dignity and respect when we give a food parcel over but ultimately that can never replace the dignity of having enough money." Gary Lemon of the @TrussellTrust highlighting the importance of cash over food parcels when it comes to tackling #foodpoverty.
A day bus ticket - £4.00 - can be enough of an expense for one person, let alone when you need to buy child tickets too. Thank you @Sikh_Sanjog for informing us that the tickets are helping in the way we planned! As always, your organization are doing brilliant work! #Edinburgh
From our partner organisation, @sacro_ - its nice to see the travel bank provides not only a practical benefit, but a sense of community support too. Thanks for sharing @sacro_
Without the £20 uplift to #UniversalCredit, tens of thousands of families could be left facing destitution. Ask your MP to add their voice to calls for change now and #KeepTheLifeline > ow.ly/VAXV50D9tvl
Your health and wellbeing is important to us. We understand financial support provides opportunities for endorphin boosting activities and helps reduce social isolation. Thanks @OPFS for issuing our vouchers!

'We need to strengthen the benefits system. At a minimum, we need the temporary £20 per week increase to Universal Credit and Working Tax Credit to be made permanent, extending this same lifeline to people on legacy benefits' - we couldn't agree more!
OUT NOW UK Poverty 2020/21. Our leading independent report reveals how the impact of a decade of deprivation coupled with #COVID19 and #lockdown has hit people trapped in poverty the hardest. Government policies must keep people afloat, not pull them under jrf.org.uk/report/uk-pove…
A reminder of our grant criteria: - The applicant needs to have applied for, and been denied, a LA Crisis Grant (if eligible) - The applicants income needs to be less than £16,000.00 annually - Our grant should make a difference to the applicant. #Edinburgh
Great to see @EdCiMi are still running the Foodbanks and Soul Food meals - they are really important during this time.
Our Basics Banks, Foodbank+ and all our Soul Food meals will be operating as normal. The Clothesbank+, however, will be running as an emergency service only during Lockdown. If you have any questions or require support, please do get in touch. #inourcityforourcity

With your help, we have supported 1,279 local children with a set of new school uniform this year. That’s 27% more children than last year. #Edinburgh #Community #NeverMoreNeeded
A beautiful morning in Edinburgh today! Remember you can still apply to Float Trust for grants over the Christmas period. We welcome applications for food and fuel if people are left short. #Edinburgh
Encouraging feedback - @OPFS “A single father who was raising his son, had to move home. This meant that his son had to catch a bus and travel across the city to attend school. With help from Float we gave them a number of child day saver tickets, to get to and from school” - 😃
Are you needing to travel over the holiday period? Our partners should be able to supply you with bus tickets. Here is Lothian's Festive Timetable - #Edinburgh lothianbuses.com/news/2020/12/l…
During the start of the pandemic, we had to limit our £30.00 grants to those with weekly income of less than £100 or no recourse to public funds. This has changed. We will now make payment to applicants with low income. Professionals can apply here - float.scot/grants
