pursuing an academic career is like thinking the stripper loves you
we are living in like year 16 of the long republican crash out about obama
The thing is, Republicans HATE Democrats, but when Obama and Biden were elected they didn't crash out and decide that they hated America. Their love for their country wasn't conditional on who it chose to lead it. Democrats' was.
Trump after talking to Zohran for 35 minutes
She won 90% of her cases The only big cases she lost were in tech (Microsoft/Activision Blizzard & Meta/Within) Big cases she won: —Kroger/Albertsons —Illumina/Grail —Tapestry/Capri —IQVIA/Propel Media —Novant/Community Health Systems 🌐 in bio = never take them at their word
When 35-year-old republicans got caught supporting Hitler in a group chat, JD Vance called them “kids.” When 15 year old children get sexually abused by the president and his pals, they called them “young women.” This is your republican party, Family Values and all
The structural problem in America is pretty simple. The return on capital is too high.
Fuck you @CurtisSliwa I HATE YOU, your dumb wife, that stupid Beret of yours and all your fucking cats!
New - Trump approval poll 🟤 Disapprove 53% (-8) 🟢 Approve 45% New low for Trump's approval according to Rasmussen Rasmussen #C - RV - 10/29
I think this piece does a great job of cutting through one of the most annoying myths in the political economy debate. The “moderates” who consistently overperform sound a lot more like Lina Khan than Ezra Klein when it comes to economics.
My rocket-science idea for Democrats to win: be culturally moderate, economically populist. washingtonmonthly.com/2025/10/28/ris…
My theory, is that a large swath of MAGA voters are DEEPLY pro-Socialism. They just don’t actually know what “socialism” means because their only news source is Fox News. Whenever they listen to someone like Bernie or Mamdani, they love it - they just don’t seem to identify it…
A 55-year-old man wearing “MAGA for Mamdani” gear said he voted for Trump twice but now he’s “making a switch” and voting for Mamdani. “This’ll be the first time I'm voting for a Democrat,” he said. “I like his policies.”
Yeah, Dems need the populist left’s economic instincts without the populist left’s cultural baggage that centrists covered themselves in during cancel culture. So it requires the centrists to go left on econ and the leftists to go “center” (back to like 2011) on culture.
I don't love this report, but I do like they are trying to go back to first principles. What don't I love? There's a lot of imprecision here in suggesting that 'the left' is the problem, not because the left is good, but because the entire Democratic party apparatus is hollow.
What Orwell actually thought about socialism
Ah, a proud Mamdani voter. “It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of unorthodoxy.” - George Orwell, 1984
I've been alive for nearly a half century, and every 10 years of my life Democrats and big donors pay people lots of money to say Democrats can win by being Republicans. In a world of endless change, that train is somehow always on time. Worth adding: I've always thought Dems…
so it took you guys 10 years, millions of dollars and dozens of microsoft teams meetings to come to the conclusion everyone has been saying forever
This book reviewer has absolutely HAD IT with the democrats lmao
A generation of Democrats- Jeffries, Buttigieg, Harris, Booker, Shapiro, and others- spent their entire adult lives fashioning themselves into Obama clones, advocates for the 1% and US empire who speak in cadences of the civil rights movement. That profile suddenly has no legs.
Asked about Zohran Mamdani, Hakeem Jeffries says he's "privately communicated some of my concerns with respect to some of the views that he's expressed in terms of foreign policy."
I think the big undercurrent for Democrats right now is that the base listened and fell in line from 2020-‘24 when the Party said “you need to support who we say because the stakes are too high” and then watched them completely faceplant while the situation became worse than ever
My guess is a random never-before-on-the-scene dude being up nearly 2-to-1 against the current governor is a reflection of something way bigger than just the dude himself. It seems to reflect Dem voters being so disgusted with their party’s current leaders that they want…
