To learn more about line plots, view the free lesson (with practice problems and an answer key) available at: freemathworkbook.com/lesson-52-line…
A line plot provides a visual representation of data that makes it easy to: - see the greatest and lowest values - see what values repeat and which one(s) repeats the most - see any grouping patterns or gaps in the data
A line plot is basically a number line with data points plotted above it.
To learn more about line graphs, view the free lesson (with practice problems and an answer key) available at: freemathworkbook.com/lesson-51-line…
A line graph is sometimes called a broken-line graph because it is made up of line segments and not one continuous line.
A line graph is a good way to display a change in a value (or values) over time.
To learn more about circle graphs (pie charts), view the free lesson (with practice problems and an answer key) available at: freemathworkbook.com/lesson-50-circ…
A circle graph is a circle that represents the total number of values (or items, etc.) in the data set. The circle is then divided into slices that are proportional to the ratio of the number of one item to the total number of items.
To learn more about approximating a line of best fit, view the free lesson (with practice problems and an answer key) available at: freemathworkbook.com/lesson-49-appr…
When drawing a line of best fit: - Try to have just as many points above the line as there below the line. - Try to draw the line through as many of the "middle" points as possible.
When a scatterplot is drawn the points are usually not linear, but if there is a correlation visible in the pattern of points, a line of best fit can be sketched through the scatterplot to represent the trend of the scatterplot.
To learn more about scatterplots and stem-and-leaf plots, view the free lesson (with practice problems and an answer key) available at: freemathworkbook.com/lesson-48-scat…
If the points on a scatterplot show no pattern at all the graph displays no correlation.
When the pattern shown by a set of points on a scatterplot has a negative slope the scatterplot shows a negative correlation.
When the pattern shown by a set of points on a scatterplot has a positive slope the scatterplot shows a positive correlation.
The relationship shown on a scatterplot is called a correlation.
A graph of plotted ordered pairs is called a scatterplot. The purpose of a scatterplot is to see if any relationship between the two sets of data (domain and range) appears that wasn't obvious from looking at the list of ordered pairs.
To learn more about the volume of three-dimensional figures, view the free lesson (with practice problems and an answer key) available at: freemathworkbook.com/lesson-47-volu…
The volume of a three-dimensional figure is the measure of the amount of space it encloses. (Note: Volume is measured in cubic units.)
To learn more about the surface area of three-dimensional figures, view the free lesson (with practice problems and an answer key) available at: freemathworkbook.com/lesson-46-surf…
