I have a seat booked on the @GWRHelp 11:55 from Reading to Bristol TM but couldn’t get on the train despite there being empty seats because every doorway and vestibule was blocked with large wheely cases and people standing! #Needmoreluggagespace #paypremiumpricetostand
Hey @GWRHelp I’m on my way into London but have just discovered for my return that all the trains between Oxford and Heyford today are cancelled today ‘due to more trains than usual needing repairs’ How do I get home?! #Stuck #OneWayTrip

I’m sorry @CrossCountryUK four carriages on the Edinburgh to Plymouth train is just not enough! I got on at Leeds, people standing all the way down the train and in the vestibules! That and the overheating is making for a very uncomfortable journey!
Good to hear from Stephen Evans @LearnWorkUK about Labour market in Wales. Only 1 in 10 economically inactive people with disabilities receive help with search for employment! #MeaningfulEmployment #SkillsForWork

Seven Children: Inequality and Britain’s Next Generation by Danny Dorling review – essential reading
Inspired by the documentary Seven Up! and based on real data, this important book exposes the extent of inequality in the UK and what it means for our poorest children
Coming off the subs bench for a colleague who has commitments elsewhere tonight! I’m fortunate to be representing @cityandguilds at a reception being held on behalf of @Nat_Numeracy and hosted by @LordBlunkett #NumeracyMatters

Word of the day is ‘recrudescence’ (17th century): the return of something terrible after a time of reprieve.
Bristol is really going to miss this precious greenspace, when it is blocky blocks of overbearing flats.

Horrific! We must stop polluting our rivers and canals in this way - the impact on health and well being is immense, thank you @carla_denyer for sharing! Please share wider - this must not be hidden. @MayorofLondon what pressure can be applied to stop this?
We’re shocked to have found (through a freedom of information request) that at least 7 blocks of flats in NW London have all their waste water discharging in to local rivers instead of the sewers – with at least one into the Crane.
It’s been a while since I headed into the office from inside the M25! Calm & crisp this morning. #AutumnVibes
Everyone seems desperate to “reform” the SEND system and yet the ideal system they describe is literally the one we already have. What’s needed is resourcing and accountability to make it work as intended.
Health, education and social care getting their heads together to deal with children’s needs. You mean like in an education, health and care needs assessment?
Crikey! It’s been a while since I had to set the alarm this early! But it’s for a good reason, off to an @AELPUK round table to discuss Functional Skills maths. Looking forward to some great discussions #FunctionalSkills #NumeracyMatters #SkillsEqualJobs
