Appeals court blocks enforcement of new restrictions on commercial driver's licenses for immigrants that @SecDuffy announced back in September. apnews.com/article/commer…

Most flights arrived on time yesterday even though airlines still cut about 1,000 of them to comply with the FAA order. It was a good day. But it's not clear yet how quickly the flight cuts order might get lifted.

Yesterday was one of the best days our airspace had in a while with just a few air traffic controllers calling out from work. We’re reviewing the data provided and are working hard to return the airspace back to normal. You can thank the six House Democrats for opening up the…

Good news for air traffic controllers who have been working without pay. @SecDuffy says they will get 70% of their back pay within 48 hours of the government reopening and the rest within a week.

It’s time for our air traffic controllers to come back to work! They will receive 70% of their pay within 48 hours of the government reopening. This is a TOP priority for me so we can get our airspace back to 100%🇺🇸✈️

TODAY AT 4PM: @SecDuffy holds a press conference at @fly2ohare to provide updates on air travel amidst the government shutdown. Watch⬇️ x.com/i/broadcasts/1…

Duffy emphasizes that the recommendation to cut flights came from @FAANews safety experts looking at the data -- not his office -- and they were not politically motivated.

The non-political safety team at @FAANews came to leadership and said: We need to alleviate stress on the airspace. We listened because we care about keeping you and your family safe in our skies.

In addition to these increasing retirements, both @SecDuffy and @NATCA President Nick Daniels have said that some controllers -- particularly newer ones who make less -- are resigning. It all adds up to make it harder to reduce the longstanding shortage of controllers.

Before the shutdown, an average of 4 controllers retired a day. That number has now jumped to 15 to 20 a day. It’s pretty simple — when Democrats vote 14 times against controllers getting paid, it’s hard to convince them to stay in the profession. End the shutdown NOW.

I am glad to see FAA following their established processes of proactively monitoring data and taking action to maintain the safety of the NAS. Thank you @SecDuffy and @FAANews for your leadership.

🚨@USDOT is initiating a 10% reduction in capacity at 40 major airports. This data-based decision is designed to alleviate pressure on our air traffic controllers required to keep the skies safe.

We are assessing the risk in the airspace. Delays and cancellations will be based on which controllers are coming to work. Reducing 10% of flight volume will reduce the pressure on controllers, while prioritizing safety, and getting more flights out on time.

Thank you, Jennifer! I’m proud to work with your team to ensure safety is top priority across the board.
