Clinical pearl: 2021 Surviving Sepsis Guidelines recommend initiating vasopressors peripherally to restore MAP rather than waiting for central access to be secured. The safety of peripheral vasopressors was confirmed with an observational study by Yerke, et al in 2023.

DYK 🤔: Desmopressin has promising evidence for use in prevention of overcorrection in hyponatremia, however the ideal strategy for use, proactive, reactive, or rescue, remains largely unanswered.
