Robert King presents “Commensality as Resistance and Empowerment in Food Literary Studies: Low-Input Alternatives to the Empire of Global Food Production” tomorrow. Robert explores how eating, & local food traditions builds a politics of commensality essential to resistance.


Parul Singh will present “Rebel City – A Historical Analysis of New Delhi through the Dissenting Body Politic” at our May 1 conference. Parul explores forces of resistance that shaped the development of Delhi's landscape pre- and post-1857.


Lisa Bratton will present “Resisting Enslavement through Land Ownership: How Green and Malinda Bratton Bought the Land on which They Were Once Enslaved" at our May 1 conference. Lisa's work explores land ownership among freedpeople, including Lisa's great-great grandmother!


Matthew Robertson will be present “From Reconciliation to ‘Idle No More’: ‘Articulation’ and Indigenous Struggle in Canada” at our May 1 conference. Matthew's work explores 2 discourses regarding Indigenous peoples & colonialism that have circulated in the Canadian body politic.


Angela Ramsoondur will be presenting “The Veil of Religion in Ananda Devi's Le Voile de Draupadi and Akwaeke Emezi's Freshwater” at our May 1 conference. Angela's talk will demonstrate how religion is a sensitive topic in the aftermath of Western imperialism and colonialism.
