2-4-2T GE 222 in LNER livery transferred to Scotland for working the St. Combs branch, fitted with US cow-catchers front and rear, for part of this line was unfenced. Stratford built 1907 No 222, withdrawn 8/51.

Happy Birthday #Felixstowe Line, which opened 148 years ago 1 May 1877! Today it has an hourly passenger service 7 days a week and 40+ container trains each direction each day. All stations are adopted by volunteers who've created lovely gardens/tend to the platform flower tubs.

#OnThisDay 57 years ago, the Midland Railway's St Pancras Goods station closed. This vast complex where Camley Street is today pre-dated the Midland mainline by 6 years, so initially was accessed via the GNR. buff.ly/NMxE6aa
VE day display at Chappel and Wakes Colne station which played a pivotal role in the war keeping the airfields fuelled. The fuel dumps were in Station Road. The military personnel and armaments were carried by train. The station adopters wanted to remember the Anniversary.

Opened as Hoe Street, on the Great Eastern Chingford branch. Name changed to Walthamstow Central when it became the northern terminus of the Victoria line.

#OnThisDay 57 years ago Somers Town goods depot closed, visible on the left of this stunning aerial image (source: buff.ly/mD6dlgh). It opened as 'St Pancras New Goods' on 1st November 1887 to supplement the original depot to the north, the site is now @britishlibrary
Easy to understand why Stroudley’s LBSCR Class A1 / A1X locomotives gained their Terrier nickname; nothing beats that distinctive 'bark' of the exhaust.
Visited @PendonMuseum today. What an experience! The sheer extent of the modelled scenes and attention to detail is phenomenal. Even if you are not interested in model railways, you will still be blown away by the displays.
