An enduring classic is John Welsey's Notes on the New Testament. These devotional comments are spiritually edifying into the present, and this lovely 1755 edition is well preserved here in the Kuykendall Bible Collection.

An an early publishing of Thomas Manton's Practical Commentary on Jude from 1658.

A.L. Matthews would like to make sure we know that this was "His Book" in 1868. Don't worry Mr. Matthews, we're taking very good care of it.

Congratulations from the library to Dr. David Rathel on delivering a beneficial paper on divine simplicity in conjunction with his promotion to full faculty!

An example of the variety of translations in the Kuykendall Collection, this Persian Bible has folded edges typical of Middle Eastern binding and dates from the turn to the 20th century.

If this looks familiar to you, then you may be feeling the warm, fuzzy sensation of nostalgia that comes with seeing the 1973 NIV pew Bible. This one is in excellent condition, and the brown cover with gold lettering and wafer-thin paper may bring back childhood memories.

This smaller edition of the Norske Bibelen was a product of the Norwegian Inner Mission Society under theologian and revivalist Gisle Johnson for the poor in 19th c. Norway. For more on Gisle, see gislejohnson.com

Hermeneutics textbooks are nothing new. This 1786 Hermeneuticae by Fischer contains all a budding Bible scholar in the 18th century would need for the task of interpreting Scripture, complete with a section on rhetoric.

Our library staff does a fair bit of teaching throughout the semester. One of our RA's, Yohan Lee, captured Dr. Robb Torseth in action speaking of theology as Queen of the Sciences.

A 19th century "Blank Bible" like Edwards's, and with lots of notes in Greek and English by its anonymous owner.

Early Welsh Bible, 1752. Lots of great family inscriptions inside. From the Kuykendall Bible Collection.
