Four years ago today I underwent stem cell transplant. At present, with maintenance chemo, the cancer is not progressing. I’m hugely grateful for this, and for the NHS, as well as family and friends who have travelled this path with me.

In January 2015 I saw a kingfisher for the first time and since then there have been numerous sightings. The kingfisher has become an abiding motif and informed my theme as President of the Baptist Union, 'Attentive to rhythms of grace.' A joy to see one the last two days!

A beautiful Nine Lessons and Carols at Christ Church Cathedral and the privilege of reading one of the Lessons @ChChCathedralOx.

Very sad news.

The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama told its staff today that it is axeing its junior department at the end of this term. Almost 200 children study there on saturdays. That will all stop in July. This is not rich kids playing expensive instruments. One of them texted...

Today is #NationalCancerCNSDay. We asked a few Cancer Nurse Specialists advice if you would like to become a CNS. This is Suzanne, she is a Haematology CNS. She says to ensure that you become a CNS in an area that you have an overall interest in.

My friend who had cancer hated all the talk about “battles” and “fighting”. This language implies that those who don’t make it didn’t try hard enough.

Candlemas Carol Service at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford @ChChCathedralOx - a beautiful occasion with especially fine singing from the choir.

A first for me yesterday evening - at the Cambridge Junction to hear Gryphon, a medieval prog-rock band, featuring my friend, the wonderful flautist and multi-instrumentalist, Andy Findo. A great evening!

November pierces with its bleak remembrance Of all the bitterness and waste of war. Our silence tries but fails to make a semblance Of that lost peace they thought worth fighting for. Silence: a Sonnet for Remembrance Day malcolmguite.wordpress.com/2023/11/11/sil…

A stunning performance of Bach’s Goldberg Variations by Vikingur Ólafsson @VikingurMusic at Saffron Hall. Spectacular and sublime. And the acoustics are outstanding.
