A wonderful day yesterday - the Darius Wind Quintet (minus 1) reunion after nearly 50 years. All stellar professional musicians with me diversifying to become a minister! Thank you Margaret Campbell, David Fuest, David Thomas - let’s do it again!
Four years ago today I underwent stem cell transplant. At present, with maintenance chemo, the cancer is not progressing. I’m hugely grateful for this, and for the NHS, as well as family and friends who have travelled this path with me.
In January 2015 I saw a kingfisher for the first time and since then there have been numerous sightings. The kingfisher has become an abiding motif and informed my theme as President of the Baptist Union, 'Attentive to rhythms of grace.' A joy to see one the last two days!
A beautiful Nine Lessons and Carols at Christ Church Cathedral and the privilege of reading one of the Lessons @ChChCathedralOx.
A wondrous series of short essays by one of my favourite authors. Thanks to @andygoodliff for flagging it up. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
I guess this makes it official. I got tenure! Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this process and throughout the tenure-track! You know who you are! @UVAEcon has been a fantastic home and has the most incredibly supportive colleagues. I feel very blessed!
Very sad news.

Today is #NationalCancerCNSDay. We asked a few Cancer Nurse Specialists advice if you would like to become a CNS. This is Suzanne, she is a Haematology CNS. She says to ensure that you become a CNS in an area that you have an overall interest in.
My friend who had cancer hated all the talk about “battles” and “fighting”. This language implies that those who don’t make it didn’t try hard enough.
Candlemas Carol Service at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford @ChChCathedralOx - a beautiful occasion with especially fine singing from the choir.
Christ Church Cathedral @ChChCathedralOx Advent Lessons and Carols - a beautiful service.
A first for me yesterday evening - at the Cambridge Junction to hear Gryphon, a medieval prog-rock band, featuring my friend, the wonderful flautist and multi-instrumentalist, Andy Findo. A great evening!
From ‘Beer and Beowulf’ to the seven heavens, Whose music you conduct from sphere to sphere, You are our portal to those hidden havens Whence we return to bless our being here. #CSLewis: A Sonnet malcolmguite.wordpress.com/2023/11/22/cs-…
Grateful today for the life and legacy of C.S. Lewis who finally stepped into Narnia 60 years ago today… “There are far, far better things ahead,” he said, “than any we leave behind.”
A poignant sonnet from Malcolm Guite

A stunning performance of Bach’s Goldberg Variations by Vikingur Ólafsson @VikingurMusic at Saffron Hall. Spectacular and sublime. And the acoustics are outstanding.
