The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith, and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety.

I know a guy who saw some cool things no one can talk about... it’s me, I’m the guy.

Jesus, empathetically, to the woman caught in the act of adultery, “Your accusers are gone. Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.” Jesus, emphatically, to the theologically arrogant and presumptuous, “Your father is the devil. You love to do his bidding.” I love Jesus.

Everything which in our day will lead believers to value the Scriptures is of importance.

The preacher cannot know the particular state of the various individuals who composed the congregation, nor what they require, but the Lord knows it; if the preacher rennounces his own wisdom, he will be assisted by the Lord.

How differently does the Lord judge from man!

The first great and primary business to which I ought to attend every day is to have my soul happy in the Lord.

Under every trial and every difficulty, we find prayer and faith to be our universal remedy.

The vigor of our spiritual life will be in direct proportion to the place held by our Bible in our life and thoughts.

Be assured, if you walk with Him and look to Him, and expect help from Him, He will never fail you.

When the Lord is pleased to remove me from my post, He will prove that He was not dependent on me, and that He can easily raise up another servant of His to act on the same principles on which I have sought to carry on the work.

In the greatest difficulties, in the heaviest trials, in the deepest poverty and necessities, He has never failed me.

If we desire our faith to be strengthened, we should not shrink from opportunities where our faith may be tried, and therefore, through trial, be strengthened.

There is never a time when we may not hope in God. Whatever our necessities, however great our difficulties, and though to all appearance help is impossible, yet our business is to hope in God, and it will be found that it is not in vain.

If the Lord fails me at this time, it will be the first time.

Why did I establish the orphan house by prayer and faith? “I longed to have something to point others to as a visible proof that our God and father is the same faithful God that he ever was, as willing as ever to PROVE himself the LIVING GOD to all who put their trust in him.”

The Lord, in answer to prayer, has given me, in a few days, about 50 pounds. I had asked only for 40 pounds. This has been a great encouragement to me, and has still more stirred me up to think and pray about the establishment of an orphan house. 11/23/1835
