Finishing up reviewing mongoDB and Express before starting my 100 hours project this week (details coming). Also, I did a really fun 6kyu this morning. I was given an array of cardinal directions and a distance to move. You return true if you end up where you started!

Some of the most talented developers I've worked with, want nothing to do with social media. They work, then just want to live life.

Breaking up the programming posts for something way cooler. Can you ID the species?

17/100 Very grateful for where I’m at on my journey with #100Devs. Just finished building a full stack application (very minimal) that passes data from the front end to the database. Thanks to @leonnoel and @mayanwolfe for your knowledge and experience.

Day 16 -Built an API doing a follow along #100devs -8kyu & 7kyu codewars -Ate family size bag of peanut butter m&ms -found a fig tree at the local college campus

Day 14 The codewars problems are getting more complex. I love problem solving - which is what interested me about programming from the beginning. It’s becoming more useful to close the laptop and work through problems on paper. Also, I just hit 100 pages in my coding journal!

Day 13 Learning the foundations of Node. Js, express, and mongoDB. Today Joe wants to throw the MacBook out the window. So will tomorrow Joe. Next week Joe should be okay 🤣 - Codewars 6kyu - Anki

Day 12 Thunderstorms have been a good reason to stay in and catch up on work. - Event loops, call stack, task queue, micro tasks. - Node.js intro - Created a server, and made an API request to it!

Feeling grateful and seeing results. If two months ago someone said I will complete a 6kyu in under 20 minutes using JS methods, an arrow function, and a ternary operator I don’t think I would have known what they were talking about 🤣

Day 10/100 Continuing to understand concurrency in JS. I’m slowly making progress and it’s starting to get easier - Anki / Codewars - Banki - @mayanwolfe video on Async/Await - being judged by Banjo 🐕

Day 9 - Looking under the hood at JS methods. (scary) - Wrapping my brain around the evolution of asynchronous concurrency is JS - Teaching banjo about floats - Chipotle (very important)

Ever ask yourself how animals experience consciousness or intelligence? Can animals deceive and lie like humans? Is human intelligence really good for our own evolution? Give this book a read.

Give this book a read.

Day 7 & 8 Continuing to learn about JS promises and browser APIs. Had my mind blown when I found out some of the "functions" I had been using were not actually JS, but web APIs.

Day 6 Banjo showing the reality of this learning process. A lot of long days in front of the computer. Poor guy :( I’m currently on hour 4 of @mayanwolfe streaming how to build a full stack app with React. So much knowledge and sharing in this space.

Took a break from coding so I’m picking up on day 5 of #100DaysOfCode - completed 6kyu Codewars - studying promises, Async/Await - finishing the JavaScript super review before heading to the back end.

Day 3 & 4. I’ve decided to focus more on my journey than the code. I first worked with developers in 2013 in Afghanistan. This was when I really saw the power of data and insights. Looking forward to a journey of more peaceful development.

Day 2/100 Continuing to practice the foundations of object oriented programming. I’m making classes using the 9 taxonomic ranks of the animal kingdom. Should give me plenty of class extensions to work with 🤣

Do you have a coding journal? Day 1/100 Started the 100 Days of Code Challenge today. I think the most valuable part of my journey had been my “Journey of Code” google doc. It has all my notes, my wins and failures, my goals and frustrations, and project ideas.

Had a great chat with @TimTrussJr this morning. We talked about the downfalls of perfectionism, how to know when to quit, and the value of community.

You won’t find this level of dedication at a boot camp people. @leonnoel #100devs
