This stuff just breaks my heart. You have to be strong for the horse, they can't speak for themselves, dependent on humans.

This behemoth of a horse is such a gentle giant. He stood quietly and ate his hay while he soaked… I think it blew out on his toe (I found a hole there after I soaked but he’s so sore I didn’t mess with it much) and now he’s bandaged. He *seems* to be moving a bit better, too.…
I’m very sad. Soul’s paddock buddy took ill and had to be put to rest today. He was a sweet pal and I feel terribly for his humans who loved him and his horse friends who spent their days with him. 🤍

More stringent rules have to be in place about # of days between races, # of starts where it is time for a horse to be retired. An aftercare plan in place before the horse is taken off the track & better policing of the Digital Certificate.
True. Hackleton lucked out in the claiming races. He ended up with a trainer who had him for a number of years, bought him, raced him and retired him to you. Before the shivers Hackleton was still running well & not overraced. The key is to identify the problem people.
A lot of people hang quilts like this on walls as a centerpiece for a room. It's so gorgeous! There is a home for this! Now it just has to find that home by people bidding.
