About the size of a aphid, I only just spotted this early Enteucha acetosae moth on a rose hip today in our Chertsey garden. Apparently it is one of the smallest moths in the world with a wing span of only 3-4mm.

It looks like a good year for Holly Blue butterflies with several laying eggs on the base of the ivy buds in our Chertsey garden. This is one of their beautiful eggs measuring 1/4 mm in diameter and a real challenge to photograph. Indredibly intricate on a minute scale.

A Common Wasp worker (Vespula vulgaris) taken today leaving the nest situated in a cavity under a rotten tree stump. Sadly much maligned, they are such beautiful creatures.
