Hey @EveryDayFacts24: Did you know that the picture you used of an elephant is actually a humpback whale? Whale, did you????

Humpback whales are tremendously flexible underwater, here is some footage taken from the tail of a whale. journals.biologists.com/jeb/article/22…

Is nothing sacred?

On my list of things you don't expect to hear: "I have some humpback poop in the fridge that I've been practicing on"

Yeah sure whatever boring blue whales do nothing interesting. AND THE PICTURE IS OF MY COUSIN MATHILDA, who is, of course, a humpback whale.

Grumpy Hummy doesn't have quite the same ring to it. Though we do sing low enough that mere humans might think we only hum.

In retrospect, I should focus more on spelling "humpback" correctly.

Pro tip: no need to photograph whales with a macro lens.

Richard Sidey is a nature and wildlife filmmaker based in Wanaka, New Zealand. This is an impressive footage of a close encounter he had with a humpback whale in Antarctica [source, extended video and more: buff.ly/3czjMwU] [author's site: richardsidey.com]

Is it just me, or are humans increasing greatly in numbers? Lately you can't even have a dinner party without human gawkers, even in remote South Georgia.

A great sight! Wonderful to see humpbacks there in such great numbers again

Spied upon for four generations. A dubious record.

(1/3) 2019 the record year for @MICScanada with over 140 humpback whales identified in the Gulf of St Lawrence. 100 animals were already known, 40 were new including 14 calves. Among them the first 4th generation whale. Photo shows the 4 generations clockwise from the upper left

Pro-tip: if you think the video you are posting is a blue whale, but the whale is breaching or doing anything exciting at all... it's not a blue whale, and it's probably a humpback whale. For example... media.giphy.com/media/mW05nwEy…

Not since our hit album of 1970 have humpback whale hit songs been this carefully scrutinized by humans.
