After the Batlle of Horseshoe Bend, William "Red Eagle" Weatherford surrended to negotiate the safety of the remaining Red Sticks, hiding out in the forest. Red Eagle led many Red Sticks in the Creek War against Lower Creek tribes and against allied forces of the United States.

King Charles II signed a royal decree granting freedom and protection to all enslaved Africans escaping British colonies. This decree granted freedom to all runaways and displaced Indians seeking asylum in Spanish Florida.
