I agree with taxing online casinos a (little) bit more. But this type of framing - or indeed suggesting that any specific tax will automatically lead to the eradication of anything - is not just flawed, but deliberately misleading. Politicians should have to be better than this.

Really good article with truth about betting shops Av shop £7k per week in revenue, employs about 8 people, pays about £450 per week to racing and pays about £3k a week in taxes (inc payroll, rates etc). After staff/rent, profit per shop about £700, there’s no room to raise tax
