Watching WALPURGIS NIGHT (1935) on @criterionchannl. It's very Swedish, and therefore a bit Bergamnesque (as in, Ingmar), but Ingrid Bergman is so incredible in it that it makes me wish they'd worked together earlier.

18th century aristocrats wore ships and other outlandish ornaments on their heads. Hair powder was usually white, but it could also be orange, pink, red, blue, or violet. Lard was used to bind hair pieces together, and sometimes rats lived in them.
