Term 1 complete and over 1150 loans over the past 7 weeks. Heartstopper returns to the top spot of our most borrowed chart, as is often the case at this time of year, but there's plenty of variety making up the top 10. Lovely to see 'I Am Rebel' as high as no.3 in particular.
Book Group met again at lunchtime today, looking back at the fantasy novels from the past term and getting into the Halloween 🎃 spirit with multiple copies of 'Dreadwood', 'The Haunting of Aveline Jones' and 'A Skinful Of Shadows' snapped up for the half-term break.
It's the time of the year where big new novels are being published every week so make sure you keep checking our displays for all the latest titles. Lots more to come either side of half term. Plenty of the latest magazines available as well!
The enthusiasm for the Bookbuzz scheme amongst our Year 7s continues to grow every year. No question that 'The Nine Night Mystery' was the most popular choice for 2025 with over 20% of students choosing it. Our order was placed last Friday and books should arrive in November.
The past week or so has been back to business as usual here after all our Hardenhuish50 celebrations and Open Week visitors. It has been great though to fill a few gaps in our archive thanks to kind lending of personal copies of leavers booklets and Grammar School magazines.
50 years apart: we love this photo from the mid 1970s showing a school council meeting taking place here in the library on the lower level. It was part of a few photos that were left here at the weekend - soon to be reunited with their owner! On the right the same view in 2025!
After all the Hardenhuish50 focus last week, we come full circle this week and look ahead to our next cohort of Hardenhuishers! It's Open Week for Year 6 children and parents, with morning and afternoon tours starting here every day.
Today was a wonderful celebration of 50 years of Hardenhuish School. A real buzz around the place as over 250 visitors shared stories, met up with friends, revisited some old haunts and marvelled at the changes. Thankyou to everyone who came along.
Our '1975 Day' to mark 50 years of Hardenhuish was a great success today - a 70s flavour to lessons and lunch, green and gold non-uniform for pupils and LOTS of 70s fashion for staff. It was a particular delight to welcome Mr Elton John to oversee the library today...

Our Hardenhuish50 celebrations this week have begun on a rather blustery note! Tutor group quizzes about all aspects of Hardenhuish are taking place throughout the week and tomorrow we are delighted to be welcoming Radio Wiltshire to the school for a look at all our HH50 events.
Another very enjoyable Year 13 Awards Evening tonight as we wished the Class Of 2018-2025 all the best for the future. Lots of Tutor, Subject and Special Awards handed out to reflect so many wonderful achievements, including several of our historic trophies.
Another gem from the archives: GRW's 1997 video WILL be playing on our Hardenhuish50 Open Morning which is now less than 10 days away! Plenty of nostalgia and memories there and in 'A Glance At East Wing' too.
It's been an excellent first week back, with lots of new and returning faces making great use of our new titles and magazines, along with Hardenhuish50 celebrations all coming together nicely. Library lessons start next week and Book Group the week after.
