OK, I've had time to digest. Here are a few thoughts on the new FTC Policy Statement on Unfair Methods of Competition. TL;DR: it holds plenty of symbolic value for the FTC in replacing the bipartisan 2015 Statement with, but will hurt more than help in court. (1/x)

Tariffs are a tax domestic consumers pay in the form of higher prices for the tariffed good. They are poor trade policy with a history of economic harm.

Finally, the agencies ALREADY have the benefit of a rebuttable presumption of illegality for every horizontal merger resulting in a firm > 30 percent share. The PNB presumption is alive and well. And given the W rate for agencies -- the thumb on the scale is working! (15/x)

The EU is discussing a plan that would give them the option to block websites as they so choose - directly modeled on the Chinese internet firewall. It’s hard to interpret the EU’s tech regulations as anything but cynical retribution for not having a tech industry of its own
