A tragedy of many organizations is that those who execute impeccably without any drama are deemed less competent than those who execute slightly incompetently while managing up impeccably.

A good customer segmentation is worth a thousand strategy meetings.

Two skills that can make you stand out at basically any role at any startup between 50-1000 employees: Get good enough at SQL to do a basic join. Learn to build, understand, and analyze cohort models.

I know many marketers who switched into prod management so they can work on new user onboarding. But switching careers isn’t necessary to have this type of influence. The person who understands the problem best is trusted with the solution. Regardless of what team they work on.

💯

Marketers would be a lot more successful if they spent less time trying to be Twitter 'famous' and more time helping their company be successful.

like half of all thought leader one-liners abuse what's called "chiastic structure". it's really easy, watch: "The best kind of product marketing is using the product in your marketing." does it mean anything? not really. does it sound deep? fuck yea.

Couldn't agree more @JeffChang30

After launching an MVP to users, the most important product feature to work on is usually onboarding. Unlike the MVP, it can't be "minimum viable". You have to do whatever it takes to deliver initial value to users, even if it requires manual work

This is VISION @patrickc

This is AMBITION. When Patrick met @gcvp team, I was there. We asked him what’s the biggest company he would love to see become a Stripe customer. His answer: “The biggest company that will be using Stripe probably hasn’t even started yet. E-commerce is just getting going.”

So true!

Most problems are actually less solved than we think. Most startups should focus on honing and optimizing not diversifying and diluting.

For user onboarding, people talk about the "aha" moment, when new users experience the value of your product. For @Hashtag_V, Director of Growth at @WaveHQ, the "aha" moment is NOT enough to tell you if you've successfully onboarded new users. Find out why on @GrowthToday pod
