Hashtoken (HTK)
@Hashtoken2016
2016 PoW relic on Ethereum | Keccak-256 mining | A self-limiting difficulty choke on supply | Fair, compute-based distribution.
To appreciate how unique @Hashtoken2016 is, one must trace how PoW was implemented and used before. A quick thread on the evolution of PoW 🧵:
The Olympian Coin We may never know the true intentions behind deploying the hashtoken’s contract. In 2015-2016, early ethereum devs were testing new worlds. Hashtoken is a world with olympian principles and a spirit of ethereum. Principles of work, fairness and neutrality.
An ocean of worthless tickers and attention-based "innovation" feeds this pathological cycle. When it breaks, we return to first principles of value & fairness through work, verifiability, and neutrality.
HashToken’s smart contract is the first to successfully implement a unique PoW minting mechanism less than one year after ETH mainnet went live. An elegant design and only a few thousands of these coins in circulation.
A hash-based PoW mechanism relies on the pseudo-randomness of cryptographic hash functions. The hash function acts like a random oracle, unpredictable yet deterministic. The only way to determine the answer is to perform the computation, and that simply demonstrates existence.
The Math of Nice Things Left: 2016 Fungible PoW @Hashtoken2016 Brute-force keccak256(value || prev_hash) Right: 2017 Non-Fungible PoW @mooncatrescue Brute-force keccak256(seed || searchSeed)
Nearly a quadrillion hash attempts per mint. # HashToken lives up to the brand #
Egalitarian coin launches: Meme (4/13/16) HashToken (6/17/16) From deployment on, all addresses had equal standing.
Ethereum Tokens: Coins of a New Era Early Ethereum tokens were created to evaluate the world's computer capabilities, to stress-test it, to use tokens for on-chain activities and to simply experiment because humans are curious by nature.
Why would anyone buy a 2016 PoW token like @Hashtoken2016 on secondary once mining slows instead of buying a "to be airdropped one day" 2015 zombie coin? 🧵 What collectors usually look for in old relics is not only timestamps but also substance. In real world numismatics, there…
