Joakim is a 12-year-old from an isolated rural community. He has never before set foot in a school. We are helping Joakim to grow in his studies and learn reading, writing, science and math. Today, he is currently in 5th grade, the first of his family to receive an education.
India has a population of over 1.2 billion people. Some of the country's most difficult challenges include population growth, shortages of teachers, books, and basic facilities. The number of school drop-outs is extremely high and poverty is one of the main reasons for this.
In India, girls account for a disproportionately large share of all out-of-school children. We are changing the lives of marginalized children in North India by offering free tuition lessons to the needy. It is critical that every child benefits from a great education. #nonprofit
We have seen women start businesses, employ other women from the village, and pay off family debts through their industry and the skills they have learned attending one of our schools. Not every woman starts a business, but all the women leave with skills they can use. #nonprofit
Women who go through our course learn how to fashion and tailor garments (saris, dresses, baby clothes), as well as crochet and embroidery work. Most of the women are from marginalized backgrounds: the rural poor and the wives of migrant farm workers. #nonprofit
One of the core objectives of our tailoring schools in the villages is teaching skills that our students can use for a lifetime to earn an income for themselves, their families, and even their community. #nonprofit
Our elephants are handmade with love and care. Each one has personality and reflects the style and choice of the tailor. All proceeds go to support the five tailoring schools in India, helping women learn a trade to support their families: bit.ly/3gdqA6h #elephant #hope

So far this past year, we have helped start five self-sustaining businesses in local villages that produce reliable bio-sand water filters, providing jobs and clean water to the community. We look forward to the year ahead. #nonprofit #cleanwater
