A huge congrats to Shivam Kalhan, supervised by @MartaIGarrido @HesterRob on submitting his PhD thesis! He discovered that aspects of learning and decision-making, such as the anterior cingulate cortex and dopaminergic systems, are gone awry in people with substance use disorder.

Thank you Dana, Lorelle and colleagues for this elegant and important explanation for a question I’m asked constantly. There doesn’t need to be a shortage of psychologists in the community, it’s a choice we’ve made and it can be addressed immediately.
