teachers wouldn't have a job if everyone was perfect and nobody had room to grow 🍎👩🏫
#teacherfriends Q5: when I reflect, I always look at myself not just my kiddos! I also think that there is never a perfect lesson because I am not perefct and neither are my kiddos! There is always room for some TLC!!!
#TeacherFriends A4 continued: Also important to realize that all students learn differently so if you're only teaching in one set way that seems to best fit the standards and curriculum, you probably won't reach all your students
#TeacherFriends A4: While I've never had to work with an administration, they typically tend to like results. As long as the students are meeting their standards & getting results, it SHOULDN'T matter if we use class debates and group project over readings+worksheets to do it
#teacherfriends Q3: Many of us still have the fear of failing! What if I fail! First of all you will never fail when you try something new! Especially if it is in the best interests of your students! Failing is not bad! It is a learning experience!
#TeacherFriends A3: Any number of things can leave teachers "in the box". As a new teacher, it can be awkward wanting to share ideas with veteran teachers using dated and repetitive methods. But as a newbie that's not always taken so kindly. Any ideas from the veteran teachers?
#teacherfriends A2: As someone who works predominantly with children with special needs, giving kids an environment best suited for them (static versus creative seating, quiet corner and areas for student collaboration, etc.) can really be a benefit for the students' learning
#teacherfriends A2: creating an explorative and creative classroom environment (letting kids try different methods, not focusing on right/wrong of thoughts & answers, etc.) is V important for teaching outside of the box. If you don't let your kids do it, how are you going to?
#teacherfriends A1 (part 2): Quick example of seasons math activity I made for my preschoolers (took a lot of hot glue). I love creating my own activities that engage the kiddos. Connecting to the kids and having fun w/ them is 1 of the most important parts of teaching imo
#teacherfriends A1 (part 1): teaching outside the box means integrating hands-on and new (to the students) materials in my lessons & trying new and different approaches for teaching a concept. My approach to teaching & children is mostly inspired by the best teachers I've had.
#teacherfriends Hi everyone, I'm Heather. I'm actually a college student studying special education in Illinois, but have taught preschool for a couple years prior. I'm a newbie, but I can't wait to start teaching independently.
R1: many pre-service teachers see #edtech as just a new-age trend, a dangerous and polarizing shift in teaching, and a confusing new landscape teachers are forced into, faced with yet another challenge in educating today's students #sped312chat #misconceptions #TPACK
