I finally managed to boot into Proxmox on the Dell R630. I won't tell you how long it took me to figure out I wasn't using UEFI. #homelab
My weekend #homelab project is migrating from ESXI to Proxmox. I installed Proxmox on my Dell R730 this morning. Next, I played with restoring VMs to Proxmox from Veeam; there were a couple of bumps, but VM restore was a success.
My "Gaming" PC is 10 years old and needed a bit more ooomph. Today i swapped my mobo, cpu, ram with my unraid server. Unraid won't be doing much computer in the future so i'm happy with it running on an older i5. Just need to migrate everything over to the R630.
Had time to play around with XCP-NG last night. Installed the Community Edition of Xen Orchestra. Spun up an Ubuntu server that will be my main docker host. Need to plan my migration from Unraid over to the new docker host. Unraid will still be my main storage.
Upgraded from some old failing 1TB an 2TB drives to 4TB Seagate IronWolf Pro's. Storage space sorted for a while now.

Updating IDRAC on my Dell PowerEdge R630
Today I’ve sat in my garden in shorts and t-shirt eating mince pies. It’s October.
Looks like Philips Hue accounts are becoming mandatory. Time to make use of my zigbee dongle and get off their app and bridge.
Spent some time running firmware and bios updates today. All prepared for an OS to be installed. I'm thinking Proxmox but i'm tempted to try out ESXI. #homelab
Dell R630 arrived. Spent way too long attempting to reset the iDRAC password. Reset via bios would not work, resetting iDRAC to default would not work. In the end I had to use the jumper method. Password reset and then I spent the next 50 mins updating iDRAC. #homelab
Awaiting delivery of a Dell R630 I snagged for a bargain off eBay. No ram but I’ve got 32Gb lying around. Hopefully it’s not a dud! #homelab

I've always shied away from Rclone. Just got it set up and configured for OneDrive. Super simple and now i can back up some important data to OneDrive. #Backups #Unraid #Rclone
I tried to reduce the amount of cache drives I have in my Unraid server and broke my cache. Had to reinstall my docker containers from scratch. Luckily I had my appdata backed up. #unraid #backups #homelab
Making some changes to my Unraid server today. Running at 95.7% of my array. No new drives to install so i'm making use of an old 2TB Seagate I have lying around. Will give me an extra 1TB while i decide my upgrade path.
Anyone know how long it takes before i can change my email address? Not used the account for a while and i'm being denied because of new account activity. Nice safety feature but would like to know a time line.
