Why should every person, business, and nonprofit move their banking business to a local credit union? Reason #1 - they're member-owned, so they work for you - not for themselves.
New conversations around expanded insurance coverage could have meaningful implications for credit unions. More flexibility. Same nonprofit DNA.
One area I have been spending more time thinking about lately is share insurance and how it supports confidence in the credit union system. It's not always visible day to day, but it's a foundational part of how members are protected.
I pay close attention to how regulatory and structural discussions evolve in the credit union space. Small changes can have meaningful downstream effects. Some of the most interesting developments tend to happen well before things are finalized.
I tend to look at financial institutions from a structural lens - governance, incentives, and long-term design. Credit unions are particularly interesting in that regard, which is why they'll be a central focus of what I share here.
