The elephant in the room is the fact that almost all modern distributed and cloud systems are driven by Yaml config files. And besides it being technically terrifying when you think about it, almost no one likes it either. So, shouldn't we try to solve the underlying problem?

"The right tool for the job" really can't be stressed enough. An overwhelming majority of my experiences as a consultant over the years has involved rescuing companies where the eng org picked tech or architecture that didn't align with the problem they were trying to solve.…

.NET 7 now and .NET 8 when it is released. LTS means longer support, not better stability or higher quality. Also smaller upgrades bring less risk. Going from 6 to 7 and then to 8 do is not double the effort of going form 6 to 8 in one step.

It is amazing how @VisualStudio can show a deadlock in the async code in the 'Parallel Stacks' view! It's not possible to figure out an issue like this one simply by looking into the stack traces. You need to look at how the async machinery is linked together to show it.

Did you know about Enumerable.Prepend() and Enumerable.Append() extension methods that add a single element before/after a sequence? Apparently I've been living under a rock all these years

The next building block for implementing 'StructRecordsGenerator' is ready. I've implemented 'GenerateToStringAttribute' that generates 'ToString' impl the same way the records ToString is generated. Works for structs and classes. #csharp #sourcegenerators

I love that the new C# language features like the new pattern matching ('is not' in this case) come with a few code fixers out of the box to help converting existing codebases to use the new patterns.

If you aren’t going to allow a candidate to use Google during a coding interview, then just go ahead and tell them you don’t allow using search engines at your company on the job posting so no one bothers applying and we all save a lot of time instead of lying about reality.

You may have noticed me retweeting people advertising open positions (hiring) and people looking for work. I believe in network effects and serendipity. Hiring people is the single most important thing you can do, because people are everything.
